You know those Pampers commercials that show a baby peacefully sleeping in her crib in the middle of the night? Soft music is playing and the baby is in her perfect room with a relaxed expression on her face, probably dreaming of rainbows and unicorns.
Before kids, we imagined ourselves standing over that crib and smiling down at our baby before crawling back into our warm beds and drifting off into a deep sleep until the late morning.
But you’re here on this website now. Which means you have 1,2, 3 or more kids. And it’s not at all like the Pampers commercial.
I know. What bait and switch, right? Don’t get me wrong, I know we’re all thankful for our children. But man, parenting is SO much harder than we thought!
Maybe you have a child who never listens to you. In fact, they purposely do exactly the opposite of what you tell them to do.
Or maybe you find yourself in what feels like hundreds of power struggles a day with your kids.
It’s infuriating, draining, and disheartening. Why can’t our kids see that we are just trying to help them and keep them safe?
Whatever your parenting woah is at the moment, trust me, you are not alone.
I’m a parent, just like you. And just like you, I face these common parenting struggles a lot. I have two little boys, ages 2 and 5.
I had been reduced to screaming and tears by my boys one too many times. I was beginning to feel depressed and like I was failing as a mother.
I began googling things like, “How to get your kids to listen” and “is my kid strong willed”. I fell into the rabbit hole.
But I emerged with some amazingly helpful strategies, many of them focused around something called “positive parenting”.
Do I still have tough days with my kiddos? Yes. Do I still face situations where I’m not sure exactly how to handle them? You betcha. When this happens, I research a solution so that I can handle it when it happens again.
This leads me to how I can help you.
Here on Makin’ Mommy Moves, you will find all of the parenting strategies and tactics that I research and that I actually use. Not only will I teach you what the strategies are, how to use them, and why they work, but I will also share my personal experiences of using them, how they worked for me, and what you might want to do differently.
In addition, you will also find ideas to make your mom life easier and your family bond stronger. If you are happier and your family feels connected, it’s a lot easier to implement the parenting strategies and have them actually work.
